Ingredients + Vendors:
1/2 loaf of New York Italian bread from Monte Reale, sliced into 1-inch thick slices
1 pint of grape tomatoes, sliced in half from Dusty’s Produce or C+F Produce
1 ball of fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced from Stamper Cheese
1/4 cup of fresh basil leaves, torn from Fresh Harvest
1 tablespoon of olive oil from Earths Complete
1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and toast for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and toasted.
In a large bowl, combine the tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
To assemble the salad, place a toasted bread slice on a plate and top with the caprese salad.
Serve immediately.
Tips:
For a more flavorful salad, you can roast the tomatoes before slicing them.
To roast the tomatoes, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the tomatoes on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes, or until slightly charred.
You can also add other ingredients to the salad, such as cucumber, red onion, or prosciutto.
For a vegetarian salad, omit the prosciutto.
