Basic Egg Bake Recipe
Basic Egg Bake Recipe
Ingredients:
8 large eggs
1 cup milk (you can use whole milk, almond milk, or any milk substitute)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite cheese)
1 cup diced vegetables (bell peppers, spinach, onions, mushrooms, etc.)
1 cup diced cooked meat (ham, bacon, sausage, etc.) - optional
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking spray or butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe dish with cooking spray or butter.
Whisk the Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Layer the Ingredients: Spread the diced vegetables and cooked meat (if using) evenly in the greased baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the vegetables and meat.
Pour the Egg Mixture: Carefully pour the whisked eggs and milk mixture over the vegetables, meat, and cheese in the baking dish.
Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the egg bake is set in the center and the edges turn golden brown. You can check for doneness by inserting a knife or toothpick in the center; if it comes out clean, the bake is done.
Serve: Remove the egg bake from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Cut into squares or wedges and serve hot.
Note:
Feel free to customize your egg bake by adding different vegetables, cheeses, or meats. You can also sprinkle herbs or spices for extra flavor.
For a make-ahead option, assemble the egg bake the night before, cover it, and refrigerate. In the morning, bake it as directed.
